A Love Spell

Love spells are something we are all familiar with. We have heard about them in faery tales, wished we could cast one on our first crush, and been warned about them by superstitious relatives. I even found a book with love spells in the local library. The cover was pretty but the inside contained some scary stuff. (I never borrowed it, too much bad mojo.) Talking about the existence of spells, with a work colleague last month, she told me about a love spell that had been cast on her brother.
When my colleague lived in Albania,( lets call my college Claire ,her brother Dave and the girl Maree) her younger brother had a very possessive girlfriend. The girl was completely in love, and utterly obsessed with Dave. She never let him out of her sight. Needless to say, she went almost everywhere with him, and got angry if he ate at his mother's house when she had prepared dinner.
Like with all young men, the attention at first was wonderful, but after a while it became suffocating so
Dave severed the relationship. Maree was devastated. She tired several ways to get him back. She spoke to Claire, she followed him and begged him to take her. Unfortunately, this only made him dislike her more. After a few weeks Maree stopped her badgering, and it seemed as if she got the message.
However, the next month Dave was back with her. He told his family he realised he loved Maree, and could not live without her. At first his family accepted his declaration, then things started getting strange. Claire got sick, and Dave did not look very good either. He got thinner, and refused to eat at his mother's house. He only wanted to eat at Maree's house, and after he ate, he was always sick.
Month's past and his mother grew concerned, opting to seek advice from a seer. The seer told her Maree had cast a love spell on Dave. This was the reason, he was so drawn to Mare. The spell was strong, and it could only be broken, if he could see Maree's true soul. He gave Dave's mother a potion for Dave to drink. After much convincing Dave drank this. When Dave got up during the night, he cast a glance at Maree. He saw devils horns growing out of her head. Terrified he ran back home, and told his mother what he had seen. They went to the seer the next morning and a prayer was done to break the spell. The seer told them something was hidden in their house, which was making Claire sick. The family searched until they found a bundle with hair blood and sticks. This bundle, was burnt by the seer and after a few weeks Dave and his sister were in good health. Maree fearful a counter spell would be cast on her never bothered the family again.
The story may seem far fetched on its own, but once you've heard more than one. It makes you wonder if such things like love spells are merely faery tales.
